BFW views grant funding and capacity building as inseparable processes that drive systemic social change. We support activists and organizations that are creating and transforming communities to build a more just world.

We prioritize small and start-up organizations, particularly those working in remote areas, because we believe vulnerable groups are best positioned to understand their own challenges and solutions.

Our work is rooted in in-depth research, and in 2024, we conducted the second national needs survey of the 108 organizations we collaborate with.

The "Values" program provides funding for projects by organizations at the local, regional, or national level, working to protect, promote, and raise awareness about fundamental rights, gender equality, EU values, the rule of law, and democracy.
