Raya Raeva

Campaigns and Communications Director
Raya Raeva has been part of the Bulgarian Fund for Women (BFW) team since June 2021 as Campaigns and Communications Director.

For over a decade, she has been actively engaged in human rights advocacy in Bulgaria, working with both international and local organizations focused on protecting the rights of children, women, and LGBTI+ people. She has led and contributed to numerous campaigns and initiatives, including “Memorial Women,” a campaign highlighting the contributions of women in Bulgarian history, “Super Women,” an educational collection of coloring cards, and “Mapping the Murder of Women in Bulgaria,” a research project investigating femicide.

Raya holds a degree in Philosophy from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and a Master’s degree in New Media and Digital Culture from the University of Utrecht, Netherlands. She is the co-author of the sex and health education book for girls, Vagina Matters, which was recognized in 2020 as one of the best books on sex and health education for girls. That same year, she was featured in Forbes “30 Under 30” in the Social Entrepreneurship category.
