The Bulgarian Fund for Women is launching an Urgent Fund for Women and Children Affected by the War in Ukraine. Funds will be distributed to both women and children in Ukraine and those seeking shelter in Bulgaria.
In less than a week, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has triggered a huge humanitarian crisis. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, more than half a million people have fled Ukraine since Russia launched a full-scale attack on the country on February 24, 2022. Even before Russia’s military offensive almost one million people were displaced within Ukraine after eight years of conflict – and many are now being forced to flee for a second time.
The majority of them are women and children. They arrive at border crossings exhausted and carrying what few belongings they managed to grab before the bombs started falling on their homes. They urgently need our financial and humanitarian support. According to the latest figures, Bulgaria has sheltered over 7 000 people seeking refuge and protection, and we expect this wave to become even larger in the coming days and weeks.

Provide Material Support:
At the request of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) has launched a campaign to raise material donations. The most urgent is the need for clothes, shoes, sleepwear, warm blankets and hygiene packages. Donations are accepted in the regional structures of the BRC in Bulgaria.
