Оn 2nd of July 2015 in the Home of Europe BFW organizes a discussion “Why (we) invest in women?” with the participation of the Minister of labour and social policy Ivailo Kalfin, the Chargé d’affaires at Norwegian embassy in Bulgaria Geir Sjøberg, the Chairwoman of the Council of Women in Business and CEO of Siemens Bulgaria Boryana Manolova, the Director of the Institute for Study of the Societies and Knowledge of Bulgarian Academy of Science prof. Rumyana Stoilova and the Executive Director of Bulgarian Fund for Women Nadejda Dermendjieva.
Why achieving gender equality in all spheres is crucial for the economic and social development of Bulgaria? How much domestic violence costs yearly? What is the pay gap between women and men? Should there be gender quotas in business and politics? Does unemployment have gender? Will these problems be solved with the adoption of the Law on Gender Equality and why investment in women is an investment in the whole society? These and other issues will be discussed by the participants in the event.
Bulgarian Fund for Women believes that cooperative and benevolent dialogue between NGOs, businesses and government institutions will increase the chances of achieving real gender equality in all spheres of life.
