The first Academy for women’s rights trained in feminism 12 representatives of NGOs

During the first incubator “FEMPOWER”, supported by filia.die Frauenstiftung, 12 female representatives of NGOs from 8 cities in Bulgaria were trained in the field of women’s rights and the achievement of gender equality. In the framework of 5 intensive days, they received theoretical knowledge of the topics of history of women’s movements and feminism, gender stereotypes and discrimination, gender equality, as well as practical skills for fund raising, elaboration of projects, the latest tendencies for website development, communication with external audiences, leadership and others.

At the second stage of the program – until the 30th of May 2016, the participants will have the possibility to apply what they learned, developing projects in support of women’s rights and women’s empowerment. On the 20th of June 2016, BFW will announce the results from the competition, in which one of the proposals will be supported with 5000 leva.

Partners of the Academy were the Bulgarian Association of Public Relations, Bulgarian Center for Non-Profit Law, Bulgarian Donation Forum, who provided  the free participation of professionals with a lot of experience as lectors in the Academy. Thanks to their support were covered the training expenses of 12, instead of the planned 10 participants.

Out of the training program, special guests of the Academy were Genoveva Tisheva, director of the Bulgarian Gender Research Center, and Mariyana Hamunova, co-creator of Cleantech Bulgaria and Back2BG, who shared their personal route of professional growth and the long-standing efforts and work in support of causes.
