107 creative projects by female artists from all over Bulgaria and abroad received the Open Call for Proposals to women artists – EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE.
In the summer of 2017 the Bulgarian Fund for Women created a Fund for Art Projects by Female Artists in order to fight the insufficient representation of women in professional arts and the cultural sector, to provide visibility for the works of women artists and increase their access to financial resources.
In May 2019 the Bulgarian Fund for Women succeeded in raising the necessary funds and invited artists of all spheres of contemporary visual arts to propose projects for new at works addressing “women’s topics” – from the place of women in the art system through their role in society, gender equality, the labor market, motherhood, etc.
We are now moving to the evaluation stage – our jury: Stefka Tsaneva (curator, culture manager and critic), Dessislava Dimova (art historian and curator), Dobromira Terpesheva (researcher and curator), Lea Vajsova (sociologist, Assistant Professor at the University of Sofia) and Gergana Kutseva (Development and Communications Director at the Bulgarian Fund for Women). They will select the project ideas that will receive grants out of the total sum of 30 000 Bulgarian leva. Each selected project will receive an individual grant of up to 3500 leva and all of them will be presented to the wide audience in one final exhibition. The results will be announced on July 15th, 2019.
