On the World Month against Violence against Women, Avon Bulgaria donated BGN 10 000 to the Bulgarian Fund for Women for the campaign “The Invisible First Line” in support of victims of domestic violence.
The Bulgarian Fund for Women is organizing the charity initiative, which is collecting donations from corporate and individual donors between 25 November and 18 December 2021. The funds will be donated to crisis and counselling centers across the country, which help women victims of domestic violence and their children daily and provide them with temporary shelter, psychological and legal support, humanitarian aid, and the essentials to start a new life.
The funds raised in the Anti-Violence Fund will be distributed by the Bulgarian Fund for Women to at least 10 organizations across the country that are licensed providers of social services for women and children victims of violence. Among the needs identified by the crisis and counselling centers are funds for legal representation of victims in court, issuance of protection orders, forensic physician, etc., funds for additional hours of work for psychologists and therapists due to the increased number of cases and their greater severity, improvement of living conditions and urgent repairs at the Crisis Centers, purchase of disinfectants and personal protective equipment related to the containment of COVID-19, coverage of coronavirus tests for those newly housed at the Crisis Centers, provision of food, clothing, medicine, medical fees, etc.
Avon Bulgaria also supports the Bulgarian Fund for Women in the publication of the documentary book “The Invisible First Line”, which tells the true stories of the heroes of the crisis and counselling centers – psychologists and social workers who work on the first line and support severely affected people every day, but often remain invisible and out of the news and public eye. The book will be sent as a gift to people who donate 50 leva or more to the campaign of the Bulgarian Fund for Women. See more at www.silna.info
The partnership of Avon Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Fund for Women has been going on for more than 10 years. We are united by our drive for positive social change and our shared mission to empower women. We have worked together in the Avon campaign against breast cancer. In 2019, we jointly launched the Love Errors campaign, which aims to help young women recognize the signs of abuse in a relationship early. The campaign is ongoing, and you can find all the resources from the campaign at loveerorrs.bg.
In 2020, Avon Bulgaria also donated a large number of disinfectants and personal hygiene products, which the Bulgarian Fund for Women distributed to crisis and counselling centers across the country to help victims of domestic violence and the professionals who help them.
