Bulgarian Fund for Women will invest BGN 3.5 million in the fight against gender-based violence and domestic violence through grants to organizations working on the frontline of the issue. This will take place over the next three years under the Feminist Opportunities for Resilience and Community Empowerment (FORCE) program, implemented with the financial support of the European Commission. The total cost of the program is BGN 4.5 million, with over 70% of the budget earmarked for grant funding. Organizations will be able to apply for a maximum of BGN 117,000 (EUR 60,000) for up to 18 months.
In autumn 2024, BFW will provide financial support for projects aimed at preventing and combating all forms of gender-based violence, including in the context of migration, domestic violence, and all forms of violence against LGBTIQ+ people. The funding open call and the accompanying capacity building and/or capacity enhancement program for applicant organizations will be tailored to the results of a BFW survey on the needs of those working in the field of women’s rights and the fight against gender-based violence and domestic violence.
If you want to be the first to hear news about the program – what the application deadlines are, how to get involved in the survey, and what training opportunities and meetings are coming up, sign up HERE* (in Bulgarian)!
The program aims to support the work of NGOs that work directly with victims, develop advocacy activities to improve the legislative framework, plan awareness-raising campaigns, organize training for professionals, etc. Accompanying capacity-building and/or capacity-building opportunities tailored to the needs of the applicant organizations are also provided, such as organizational development training, fundraising workshops, advocacy and community mobilization, networking events and experience sharing. The trainings, together with the funding provided, will help the supported organizations to achieve a higher level of institutional independence and their teams to develop an organizational culture for strategic planning, as well as to acquire knowledge and skills to attract more and different types of financial resources.
*Please note that only organizations registered in Bulgaria under the Not-for-Profit Legal Entities Act (NPOA) and operating for public benefit may apply for funding.
