Bulgarian Fund for Women announces the ten projects that will receive funding in the first round of the competition for projects in the field of women’s rights and achieving gender equality in Bulgaria.
The projects, selected by members of the Board and staff of BFW are the following:
Imago Association with “Stay in the pride”;
Bulgarian Association of University Women with “Women, women’s movement and places of collective memory”;
Association “Hope for Antonovo” with the project “Women – hope for Antonovo”;
Association “Development and support of Roma women and children” with the project “Learning how to be equal”;
Association “Youth LGBT organization – Action” with the project “Sofia Pride – giving voice to LBT women”;
Association “Zornitsa” with the project “And we also can”;
Foundation “Security and Society” with the project “Do the women providing our security secure?;
Centre for Media Development with a project to create a gender sensitive team at the student online media (SOM);
Center for contemporary street dance with the project “Step Forward”;
Foundation “Perspectives” with a project for prevention of violence against women and overcoming gender stereotypes in Sandanski Municipality.
The selected projects will be implemented by organizations from Antonovo, Varna, Isperih, Lom, Sandanski and Sofia, which, besides locally, will work at national level in the field of women’s rights and achieving gender equality.
Each project selected will receive funding of BGN 1,000. They will participate in yet another selection at the end of November 2015, in which four of the most successfully implemented projects will receive additional funding of BGN 2000.
28 nongovernmental organizations with a total of 29 projects from 15 Bulgarian towns submitted their proposals in the first round of the competition of BWF.
