Bulgarian Fund for Women and Kabinet.bg present
PEOPLE LIKE US
17-30 October 2022, Credo Bonum (2 Slavyanska Street, Sofia, 1000)
Opening: 17 October, 18:30 h
“People Like Us” presents 18 photography portraits of advocates for psychological health and in support of psychotherapy – moments captured by the lens of Vihren Georgiev from People of Sofia.
With their faces and words 18 brave women search for the answer to what it means to be psychologically healthy and become co-authors of the exhibition. Through their experience in psychotherapy or without ever experiencing it and through their personal stories, the author personas from the photography portraits enlighten their understanding about psychological pain and struggle as well as about the need of emotional support in a deep and touching way.
The exhibition gives us a close look into the image of different women, “people like us” – working, thinking, loving, struggling, dealing with their profession every day. The topics of separation and loss, of the search for an identity and belonging, for the simple and complicated things, for love and death, for the purpose of living are within those stories without obliging or giving a concrete answer.
In this closing analogy of words, stories and images the truth stands in front of the camera and sets the beginning of the sentence. We would like to encourage you to feel however you feel, to answer the everyday questions “How are you? What do you feel?” with the truth. You will have the chance to do that in the gallery – either anonymously or not, however you choose. We invite you to become part of the conversation. We will be expecting you.
