Goals:
- Encouraging and motivating women to participate in achieving socially important causes through voluntary work and expert and financial support.
- Promoting good donor practices that involve women participation and engaging the business and the people in socially important causes.
Lecturers
Carol Andreae is a member of Women Moving Millions, an organization dedicated to increasing philanthropy to effect social change in issues affecting women and girls. She lives with her husband in Columbus, Ohio, USA where she contributes much of her energy to community work, particularly The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, of which she is a co-founder. Earlier, when she lived in Portland, Maine, she served on the board of the Maine Women’s Fund.
With an undergraduate degree from Smith College and a Master’s degree from the Ohio State University, Carol continues to enjoy studying. She is certified in two coaching programs, The Newfield Network and The Strozzi Institute, as well as the Gestalt Institute of New England.
She has had a variety of occupations including fund raiser, elementary school teacher, career counselor and life coach. She was Executive Director of The Women’s Career Center in Portland, Maine, and later a career counselor and coach in private practice. She’s a proud mother of a son-a lawyer who is a public defender in Boston, Massachusetts.
Marjan Sax is a political scientist, a writer and an experienced group trainer. She is one of the founders of the women’s fund Mama Cash in the Netherlands.
At age twenty-five she received a considerable inheritance which she used, after some years, to set up the women’s fund Mama Cash. She knows from her personal experience that being wealthy means being responsible. These insights made her set up ‘de Erfdochters’ (daughters of inheritance)-a network for women with inherited wealth.
Through her work at Mama Cash as a director and a chair of the board, she acquired a great deal of expertise in the financial aspects and practical work of nonprofits. Marjan Sax is in the special position to be an insider both in the world of money and in the world of foundations.

an Exhibition of 3 women artists
Three artists, Alexandrina Karadzhova, Sylvia Basseva andDarina Yaneva, will display their works. Percentage of revenue from the sale of 12 exquisite works will be donated to the Bulgarian Fund for Women. The donation will be spent to support the activities of NGOs that work on prevention of violence against women and girls and provide any kind of assistance for the victims.
This initiative is part of the activities that Bulgarian Fund for Women organizes in the framework of the international campaign “16 days activism against violence against women” (25 November -10 December).
We chose to start our activities with the exhibition of the wonderful works of Alexandrina, Darina and Sylvia in order to send a message that we all can bring beauty and harmony in our homes and create a life without violence and aggression, for peace and love; homes, where we can feel safe and protected.
Bulgarian Fund for Women arranges the Exhibition during the Conference “Women and Philanthropy” because we are strongly convinced that we, women, are capable of empathy for those in need and can bring the social change when every woman and girl will be able to fully develop her potential and abilities!
Alexandra Karadjova
Alexandrina Karadjova is a contemporary Bulgarian artist, who, for more than 10 years, charms the art-lovers with her exquisite, magic and feminine paintings, done in soft pastel – one of the most expressive art materials. The artist impresses the admirers with her poetic vision of the world, her tenderness and colour that she also expresses with two other artistic materials – oil and acrylic.
Alexandrina has in her portfolio numerous solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, and also many group exhibitions and charity projects. Her artwork delights the eyes of many collectors around Europe, North America and Australia.
Since November 2010 Alexandrina is a member of the Pastel Guild of Europe. In 2011 her artworks got included in the Kennedy Publishing’s – Best of Artists Worldwide Charcoal, Pastel & Pencil.
Sylvi Basseva
In 1992 year she graduates the National Academy, specialty “Fresco” in the class of Prof. Mito Ganovski. Sylvi works in the spheres of painting, stained glass, murals, textiles, book layout. She has over 15 solo exhibitions held in the country and participated in many joint exhibitions in Bulgaria, Italy, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Morocco, Russia and Greece. Her works are owned by the National Art Gallery, the City Gallery in the towns of Sliven and Balchik, the City Library, the Sofia Municipality, the Municipality of Balchik, the Leonardina Library in Vinci – Italy, as well as by numerous private collections in Bulgaria, Germany, Japan, Kuwait, and Italy.
There are her stained glass works in the Balchik municipality, in private homes, hotels and restaurants. Sylvie is one of the founders of the annual festival “Artists, Balchik, Love”. She is a member of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists. She won the prize in the painting competition of “Todorov” Co. – “Philosophy of Wine and Life”
Darina Yaneva – www.artdarina.com
Darina Yaneva is a member of the Bulgarian Union of professional fine artists; she graduated from the Academy of Arts in Sofia in 1989. She has more than 25 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad.
On the 24th of May 2010, Darina Yaneva was awarded by the Council of the European scientific and cultural society with the certificate and badge “Golden book” for her contribution to the growth and representation of the Bulgarian culture. In 2010 her series of pictures in the theme of the Chess game were a part of the prize fund of the World Chess Championship in Sofia. A concomitant exhibition of the artist’s work was also a part of the International event. In 2002 she was nominated as one of the 10 best modern pastel artists and was presented in the “Pastel Artist International’ magazine.
Darina Yaneva is a founder and a chairman of the Children Creative Academy – DAYA. She has been working with children and organizing art projects and events for the youth for more than 15 years in Bulgaria and abroad.
