Within the framework of the international campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence (November 25- December 10) the Bulgarian Fund for Women launched its newfundraising campaign – Fundraising campaign for women and children victims of domestic violence. It will start officially on November 30 with the opening of the exhibition “Born to be loved” by the artist Alexandrina Karadjova, who will please the fans of pastel magic with her series of paintings of graceful female images. Half of the proceeds of the sales of the 30 paintings will be donated to the Bulgarian Fund for Women in support of the campaign.
The official opening of the “Born to be loved” exhibition will take place on Novemner 30 at 18:30 in Vox gallery (city of Burgas, 1, Adam Mitskevich Str.) Art lovers can see the exhibition by December 6 2010. The event is cordially supported by the Municipality of Burgas and by the Mayor of the city, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov and will be opened by Dr. Loris Manuelyan, Deputy Mayor of Health, Prevention and Social Activities.
“We choose to launch the campaign with this exhibition mainly because “Born to be loved” carries a strong message to all of us – about the beauty and hope that should be a part of our lives. Our efforts as an organization aim to support people who are exposed daily to violence and aggression at home – the space that is by default supposed to represent security and protection”, shared in regard with the event Stoila Bongalova, President of the Bulgarian Fund for Women.

I cannot comprehend aggression as a way of coping with life and as an artist my response and counteraction to violence is to create beauty and emotion and bestow them on the world around me. We need more positive energy, more tenderness and beauty in our days.” said the artist Alexandrina Karadjova.
The Bulgarian Fund for Women (BFW) is an independent non-governmental organization registered in accordance with Bulgarian law. The Fund was established in September 2004 and its aim is to achieve real, practical gender equality in all spheres of social life. For the five years of its work the BFW has worked hard to build intolerance in the Bulgarian society towards manifestations of violence against women and children as well as in support of the victims of violence to overcome the problem, by helping financially and methodologically over 20 NGOs providing services to victims of domestic violence.
Alexandrina Karadjova is a contemporary Bulgarian pastel artist. The elegant www.acrista.com virtual gallery is her special place for sharing soft pastel paintings, poems and photography. She has been active on the art scene for 7 years and has established herself as a pastelist with exquisite and recognizable style. By now, Alexandrina has had 10 solo exhibitions and in March 2011 she will open her second one abroad – this time in Anagni, Italy.
Vox Gallery is the newest art space on the cultural map of the city of Burgas – its grand opening took place on October 27th, 2010. With its first exhibition it made a statement as a serious gallery with bright presence on the Burgas art scene. Vox will not only exhibit the work of Bulgarian artists from all over the country but wishes to present new Bulgarian literarature too. Vox Gallery provided pro-bono the space for the exhibition, launching the fundraising campaign of the BFW.
