The Bulgarian Fund for Women is delighted to announce we will be a partner of the competition “Ambassador for a Day) that The British Embassy Sofia will organize for a second year in a row. Female Ambassadors and civil society organisations in Bulgaria have united in honour of International Women’s Day, 8 March 2019, and are giving girls aged 15- 19 the chance not only to try what it is to be an ‘Ambassador for a Day’ but also to work for important social causes. The theme for 2019 competition is the power of the individual to make a positive change in society. They aim to encourage and empower girls from across Bulgaria to add their voices and perspectives to societal issues that affect us all. The second objective is to draw inspiration from female leaders and individuals across society who are doing just that.
On March 7, 2019 the selected candidates will have the opportunity to work with a female ambassador in Sofia. The winners will be able to partner with an executive of a non-governmental organization (which will allow them to learn more about the respective cause) by visiting the respective organization (in February 2019) or by participating in projects together with their ambassador-patron.
British Embassy Sofia will cover the travel expenses of the successful candidates, as well as all the expenses related to the event on 7 March 2019. Follow the Instagram account of the Embassy where the results of the competition will be announced in the third week of January.
