Veolia, part of which is “Sofiyska Voda” AD, participates in the campaign of the Bulgarian Fund for Women “The Invisible First Line”. The initiative raises funds from individual and corporate donors, which will be distributed to crisis and counselling centers in the country that work on the first line and support women and children, victims of violence, on a daily basis.

The company’s sponsorship committee supported the charitable cause of the Bulgarian Women’s Fund and the crisis and counselling centers due to its high social significance and donated BGN 10 000.

“We find the campaign to be timely, important and in line with our values as well as with our goal as part of the Veolia Group – to be useful to the society”, said Vasil Trenev – Executive Director of “Sofiyska Voda” about thеir support.

“We are extremely grateful to “Sofiyska Voda” and Veolia for the invaluable support they have given to the campaign and to the cause of the Bulgarian Fund for Women to combat domestic violence.” Nadezhda Dermendjieva, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Fund for Women, commented. “Socially responsible businesses recognize this issue to be important for society as a whole and for each one of us individually, and not as a personal problem of those suffering from violence. Both the financial support of “Sofiyska Voda” and the message it sends through its act of support – to its employees, partners and to the whole society – are extremely important to us,” Dermendjieva added.

From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, until 18 December 2021, the Bulgarian Fund for Women is raising funds from individual and corporate donors, which will be distributed to crisis and counselling centers across the country that work on the frontline to protect women and children affected by violence. The funds raised will help cover their most pressing expenses, which have risen since the pandemic began, as well as due to the increased number of domestic violence cases. Among the centers’ emergency shortfalls not covered by state and municipal budgets are funds for testing, supplies, and hygiene materials to contain the spread of COVID-19; payment of state legal fees for representing victims in court; additional hours of work for psychologists and lawyers due to the increased number of cases; school supplies for children; and emergency humanitarian assistance for women exiting a crisis center.

Everyone who joins the campaign and donates 50 leva or more can receive the specially created documentary book “The Invisible First Line” as a gift, in which we tell the true stories of the psychologists and social workers who save people suffering from violence every day. Find out more about how you can donate to the initiative and what the terms and conditions are for the delivery of the book on the silna.info campaign website.
