We received 90 applications for the open call announced on April 3, 2022. The selection was made by BFW’s team – Alexandra Stankova, Victoria Petrova, Zara Rancheva and Rosena Ivanova. Belonging to an active community, geographical location, motivation to participate, realistic project ideas, as well as putting a priority on women support and empowerment were the main criteria for evaluating applicants.

During the first stage of the Community Development Program, participants will complete a three- day training on 2-3-4 June 2022, aimed at developing skills for building, organizing and mobilizing communities. In the second stage, each of the attendees will have the opportunity to apply for financial support up to BGN 1,700 from BFW, with which to activate their communities and together implement an initiative to improve the lives of everyone in the community.
The Program aims to support community leaders and active people in their efforts to unite and mobilize their communities, promote initiatives related to the unification of citizens for a better social environment, enable meetings and exchanges between different communities and promote the inclusion of women in the community development.
The selection process was difficult as we received many diverse and interesting applications. We would like to thank everyone who invested time and energy to share their motivation and ideas with us. We are happy that the Community Development Program offers opportunities to support key causes and achieve real change.
Successful initiatives of local leaders, supported by BFW in the previous edition include organizing a petanque tournament, creating a website for information and socialization for retired people, the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs, a playground adapted for children with special needs and many others.
